🏠 Homeowners: Check Your Property

Before the trick-or-treaters arrive, take a quick walk around your property.

• Make sure walkways, steps, and porches are well lit.
• Clear away hoses, toys, leaves, and anything else someone could trip over.
• Secure electrical cords and decorations.
• Keep pets safely away from the steady stream of costumed visitors.

Nobody wants a ghost on their doorstep—or a trip-and-fall claim!

🍬 Parents: Keep Your Little Monsters Safe

• Use reflective tape, glow sticks, or flashlights so kids are visible to drivers.
• Make sure costumes fit properly and masks don’t block vision.
• Remind kids to use crosswalks and look both ways.
• Check candy before anyone digs in.

🚗 Drivers: Slow Down!

Excited kids aren’t always paying attention to traffic. Drive slowly through neighborhoods, watch for children between parked cars, and put your phone away. A little extra patience can make a big difference.

Halloween Safety. Even more important than the truckload of candy, we want families to stay safe on Halloween.

Here are some tips to keep kids safe:

• Avoid masks that obstruct vision, particularly the periphery.  Face paint or make-up is a better option than restrictive masks.
• Use hypo-allergenic make-up. Make up runs, so bring a cloth when trick-or-treating to wipe any make-up that gets near the eye.
• Carry a flashlight at all times.  Once the sun goes down, keep it on.
• Don’t use any sharp props with a costume.
• Use reflective tape.  It helps others see trick-or-treaters.
• Be careful of candles used in pumpkins or other decorations.
